Frequently asked question
What is Radar?
Radar is a project tracking and reporting solution that provides complete visibility into company’s project portfolio and a one touch access to a detailed project overview. Unlike most other project management tools that focus on the operational level, Radar helps to see the big picture and empowers you to pursue projects that align with your company’s strategy.
What are the key benefits of using Radar?
Radar centralizes, structures and improves reporting processes across your entire organization to enable more informed project portfolio management. By aggregating and unifying data collected from multiple different sources, Radar effectively removes the administrative burden from your team. No need to trawl through hundreds of folders and files in search of necessary information and then spend hours on compiling visually appealing reports. With Radar, you can create and share relevant, easily comprehensible reports with chosen stakeholders in minutes, allowing everyone to focus on effective project management.
Will my company benefit from using Radar?
We support clients from across a variety of industries, including automotive, energy, oil and gas, construction, and IT. If your company is a project-oriented organization, an agency, a consulting firm, a multinational corporation, or if you represent a strategic business unit or a smaller team with numerous projects running at the same time, Radar is likely to be a good fit for your company’s needs.
Should I use Radar for the whole organization, or just my team?
This is entirely up to you. Radar is scalable and can accommodate a variety of use cases. So, whether you want to keep track of all your business units, to improve performance in a single division, or to drive communication and collaboration within a small team, it is possible. Many of our enterprise clients started with having only one department represented in Radar but have since chosen to implement the tool organization-wide.
Is Radar an out-of-the-box solution?
Radar combines a comprehensive set of out-of-the-box features with wide customization capabilities. Core functionality, default configuration and templates can readily support the most common use cases. However, the real value lies in the ability to adapt Radar to your unique business structure and reporting requirements. You can set up your own data aggregation levels, define project attributes, phases of the life cycle and milestones, and even modify the overall appearance of the tool. We’d be happy to discuss your particular case and schedule a personalized demonstration.
What project management metrics can I track with Radar?
At the most basic level, Radar enables you to track project progress and performance. Traffic light status indicators instantly reveal the health of every project, while position shows how close they are to reaching a set goal. Additionally, the tool allows monitoring the percentage of task completion and deliverables, KPIs, costs, budgets and financial effects of various initiatives – almost anything to ensure your company stays on the right track. Our clients use Radar for strategic modeling and analytics, to add more transparency into project development, identify risks earlier, and to support management decisions.
What types of reports are available in Radar?
Radar offers a range of reports and data visualization options, such as custom Radar views, single project status reports, Gantt Chart, and Portfolio Matrix. These can be used on their own or in combination to create:
- weekly roadmap progress reports,
- monthly product pipeline reports,
- quarterly project portfolio performance reports,
- internal audit quarterly reports,
- business unit performance reports,
- cost reduction program status reports,
- ad hoc project status reports.
These are just a few real examples from our clients’ experience. But with Radar, virtually any kind of report can be created to suit the requirements of your business.
How do I choose the right structure for my report?
Each report must be first and foremost tailored to the needs of a specific recipient. Consider your current work processes, define evaluation criteria to measure progress and performance, and decide on stakeholders on both sides of the reporting process to ensure right information reaches the right people. When you’re done, you can either use a ready project status report template available in Radar or create a custom one by adding necessary data fields, adjusting layout, and selecting an appropriate color scheme. If you need any assistance, we’d be happy to share our expertise in business transformation, strategy, project and process management and help you find the best configuration for your team and task.
Is Radar a cloud solution?
Yes, Radar is hosted in the cloud. This essentially means that the system is delivered over the Internet and is made available via browser without any additional software installation required on the user’s part. In the absence of technology infrastructure investment and other implementation costs, Radar is an ideal starting point for turning your project status reporting into a simple, regular, and consistent process.
What if my company does not allow storing data in the cloud?
If security policies prevent you from using cloud solutions, Radar can be installed and maintained on your company’s existing server infrastructure. In cases where an internal network is not available, an offline installation can be arranged.
Is there a limit on the number of projects?
As a tool that is designed for multi-project management, Radar does not impose any limitations on the number of projects that can be added to the system. Our current clients use Radar to successfully track and report on anywhere from 10 to 2500 projects. In other words, even if you start small now you can be sure that Radar will be able to support your evolving needs as your project portfolio grows.
Is there a limit on the number of users?
No, there is no set limit for the number of users Radar can accommodate. But depending on the size of your team, user access permissions and the specific use case, different pricing models may apply. Please contact us to request a quote.
